This notice explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit bodhitreeshop.co.za, place an order, contact us, subscribe to marketing, or visit our store. We process personal information in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible for your information?
Bodhi Tree Soul Shop is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. Our online store is hosted on Shopify, which processes information as a service provider supporting our ecommerce operations.
Information we collect
- Identity and contact details, such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address;
- Order, product, payment-status, return and customer-service information;
- Marketing preferences and newsletter interactions;
- Device, browser, IP address, cookie and website-usage information; and
- Information you voluntarily provide through forms, reviews, messages or other interactions.
Payment details are generally handled by Shopify and the payment providers available at checkout. We do not intentionally store complete payment-card details on our own systems.
Why we use personal information
- To process payment, fulfil and deliver orders, provide tracking, and manage returns;
- To respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website and services;

Shopify and some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards consistent with POPIA and applicable law.

Our store uses cookies and similar technologies for essential store functions, preferences, security, analytics and, where enabled, marketing. You can control cookies through your browser and any cookie controls presented on the site, although disabling essential cookies may affect store functionality.
Retention and security
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including order fulfilment, customer service, legal, tax and accounting requirements, dispute resolution and fraud prevention. Our online store is not directed at children who are not legally able to enter into transactions without appropriate consent. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information contrary to applicable law.
